The Washington Capitals decided not to wait until the 11th hour of tomorrow's Trade Deadline to make a move. TSN's Bob McKenzie tweeted the Capitals have acquired left winger Dustin Penner from the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. The 6'4", 245 pound Manitoba native has 13 goals and 19 assists in 49 games in his second stint with Anaheim. Penner was a member of the Ducks during their Stanley Cup run of 2007, and won a second championship with the Los Angeles Kings in 2012. Penner will be an unrestricted free agent at the season's conclusion. In return, Anaheim receives a 4th round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
